Corporate Controller

Commio is hiring for a Corporate Controller to provide support to our CEO and CFO. Location preference is in the Raleigh, NC area, but other areas will be considered based on candidate and experience. Reporting to the CFO, responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Overseeing and producing the monthly financials of the business
  • Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Directing a team of two staff accountants
  • Establishing and monitoring internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are consistent, and in accordance with established GAAP, legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures
  • Assist with managing the budgeting process, setting targets and deadlines
  • Oversee billing and collection processes
  • Providing strategic analysis to the CEO, CFO, President, and corporate finance as required to drive improved decision-making
  • Work with CFO to update and formulate accounting policies, procedures, and controls as necessary
  • Coordinate the annual audit, annual tax return filings and monthly regulatory reporting with external auditors and tax accountants
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations and manage tax filings and relationship with third party
  • Manage HR function including payroll, benefits, employee issues

Desired Education & Experience

  • Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 10+ years of experience working in a corporate setting
  • CPaaS experience preferred
  • Understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • Management experience, with the ability to train and develop high-performing teams
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to make decisions
  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, and organizational skills 
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
