Pete Sweeney, Commio Account Manager

A lot of customers know Pete Sweeney as an Account Manager, given that he’s been in the role for 5 years at Commio, and 15 years overall. But what keeps him motivated and how does he spend his free time? We sat down with him to find out.

What do you do at Commio?

I work with high profile customers to understand their goals and targets, and then collaborate with them to determine a plan of action for their organization’s voice and messaging success. I also serve as a liaison between our customers and internal resources to keep their projects on track.

What do you think sets your team apart from similar jobs at other companies?

I think the team camaraderie is certainly an important factor! We have a great Account Management team that works really well with each other and we have some very knowledgeable resources at Commio to draw from when we have questions or need input.

What excites you about going to work in the morning?

I thoroughly enjoy building relationships with my customers, and there is always something to focus on with all the changes in the telecom industry. It’s great to have a team environment where you can be heads down on a project and everyone is on the same page. A little humor goes a long way, as well!

If you could do some other job, what would it be and why?

A Rock Star! I like all kinds of music but I tend to gravitate towards blues/rock music. I listen to anything ranging from Joe Bonamassa to Metallica. I just think it would be so cool to have a talent like that! However, I can’t sing or play any instruments so… I do play a mean air guitar though!

What do your customer interactions look like?

I believe the best word to describe my customer interactions is “genuine.” The customer experience is vital to building long-lasting relationships, and that’s my ultimate goal. Some critical components are transparency and good communication. I meet with some customers on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis depending on their preference. I want to be a partner/resource, not a nuisance so it’s really up to the customer preference.

Who has influenced you in your approach to work?

My father, no question! He’s one of the most dedicated and hard working individuals I know. As a retired pilot and Vietnam veteran, he thoroughly instilled the value of doing your best and taking pride in what you do. Don’t take for granted the opportunity in front of you!

Eagles or Chiefs, and why? Do you have a personal stake in the game (Super Bowl LVII)?

Eagles 100% – I grew up outside Philadelphia and I bleed green! I have been an Eagles fan my whole life, and never once have they asked me any advice on draft picks or recommended plays! Can you imagine that?! The Eagles have a very tough match-up against the Chiefs, but I think they have a good chance of winning! Go Birds!!!

Pete loves to cook & grill!

Pete loves to cook and grill!

Coal, gas, or wood grill – and why?

I love to cook, specifically on the grill. I used to grill primarily on charcoal simply for the flavor. However, I am now falling in love with my new pellet grill! I really like being able to set the temperature and sit back with a cold one while the grill does all the work! I need to stop peeking so much and trust the process; I’m still learning but loving the progress and the flavors are exceptional on a pellet grill, as well!

What is a pellet grill?! 😳 And what food(s) do you grill most?

A pellet grill has an electric heat source with an auger (a screw) that feeds the wood chips to maintain a constant temperature and steady smoke. It’s kind of a convection oven but in a grill; there’s a fan and exhaust system that ensures even cooking temperature. My favorite so far is baby back ribs but I’m looking forward to trying a brisket next – stay tuned!
